4 of 5 Upgrade to label printer Monday, November 10, 2008 Burton Guidry from Orange Texas
Good label printer and a lot more options than my QL-500 had. This replaced the QL-500 that was washed away during hurricane IKE. The one thing that is the same is that is does not print the bar codes for the address labels automatically. If it did that this would get a lot higher ratings. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great little printer... Tuesday, July 29, 2008 (:- Wil C -:) from St. Louis MO
Bought this printer for my home office for mailing labels... ended up using it for every thing that I need a label for: folders, boxes, organizers, my daughters school stuff, more than I even thought. Fast printer and very convenient and accessible - And the BUY.COM price, unmatchable...
Highly Recommended. Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 Software problems with Vista Monday, June 30, 2008 A Customer from Wesley Chapel Florida
The printer is great works fine and the software works great under windows XP, nice interface easy to use. The problem is that the software won't run under windows Vista. If you are running Vista be careful, because Brother has software compatiable with Vista, but I can't get it to run. Contacted Brothers support they were very helpful until they found out the software crapped on a Microsoft Program then case closed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Labels Monday, June 30, 2008 A Customer from Highlands, NC
I use the product for low volume, and for the most part once and done labels where printing sheets of labels is not appropriate. The product was a snap to install and very easy to use. It has capabilities which I have not yet explored but in the most basic use it is very quick and easy and the quality of the labels is outstanding. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfect Labels in Seconds Monday, June 30, 2008 Richard from Saranac Lake, NY
This label printer arrived in perfect shape, the software CD loaded into my Vista operating system with no glitches, and I was printing labels in no time at all. I have an old Dymo label printer in my other office, and it works just fine, but the Brother is a much more rugged item and it has a built-in cutter, which is nicer than manually tearing off the labels. Anyone who has never had a label printer will love this thing - the uses for labels around the house are limitless, and the ability to make professional shipping labels is really handy. 5 of 5 Brother Labeler Saturday, June 28, 2008 Jack from Inverness, FL
I've only had the labeler about 2 weeks and have used it serveral times. It's worked like it's supposed to each time. A lot more convenient for a shipping label than just making one with MS Word on plain paper and taping it on. I should have had something like this years ago. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this printer to replace a DYMO label printer, as DYMO has limited support for Windows Vista and no support for Vista x64. Brother, to its credit, has great support for Vista x64. I had troubles using the printer to creat shipping labels after installing the driver, finding that when printing from either Word or WordPerfect I received 2x2 inch squares rather than the 2.3x4 inch rectangles I specified, which resulted in my labels being cut in half.
I called Brother's tech support line and, after being on hold for literally two seconds I reached a friendly and helpful support representative. Unfortunately, the good experience then ended, as I was told that Brother only supported the use of this printer with Brother's proprietary label printing software. Since I wanted to use the printer to print documents directly from Word and WordPerfect, I was told that I was out of luck as that was an unsupported use (except to the extent I used the Word plugin that comes with Brother's software).
A printer that can be used with only one software product is of very limited use and Brother's failure to prominently disclose this fact is inexcusable. Was this review helpful?
